Janet leads the organisation in providing consulting and legal outsourcing services to global corporations and law firms. Janet's diverse international corporate and legal sector experience allows her to bring her skills as a hands-on-operator and informed business acumen to any project. Renowned as a legal efficiency strategist, Janet has had a varied and distinguished career as a management consultant with Ernst & Young, a senior executive at Clifford Chance and Integreon and now as founder and CEO of Cognia Law. At Clifford Chance Janet worked as a member of the Global Operations Group whose mandate included leading a change agenda supporting Clifford Chance's efficiency and growth strategy. This included the setup of the firm's 380-person shared service centre in Delhi, India. In addition, Janet developed the firm's legal efficiency strategy and initiated a programme focused on improving the quality, profitability and efficiency of Clifford Chance's legal services. Specifically, the programme leveraged the principles of Lean Six Sigma and project management into the delivery of legal services. At Integreon, Janet was the Global Head of Legal Process Outsourcing which included business unit leadership and delivery of services leveraging teams based in India, Philippines, onshore UK and US.
Peter manages the finance and technology function at Cognia Law and ensures a smooth and effective running of the Company’s operations. As an experienced CFO, COO and entrepreneur, Peter brings entrepreneurial passion, experience in large company management and operational capabilities which have been integral in establishing and maintaining Cognia Law’s top tier client relationships. Peter started his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, and progressed into various leadership roles including Financial Director and COO positions at Old Mutual Direct, LTP Trade PLC. and Standard Chartered.
Mike performs an advisory role supporting the shaping of Cognia Law's commercial relationships and business development. In addition, Mike draws on his wealth of previous experience to provide consulting support to clients as a senior commercial SME. As a consummate professional with a keen eye for detail in every brief he undertakes, Mike brings invaluable commercial contracting and outsourcing experience. Mike was on the Board of IBM Global Services in the UK, Netherlands and the Nordics and was responsible for Outsourcing before joining Accenture as a Senior Partner where he built the outsourcing capability for one of the divisions in EMEA and Latin America.
Justin Ridl – General Counsel and Global Head of Legal Services
Justin manages Cognia Law’s overall legal risk and leads the delivery of Legal Services. Specifically, Justin leads the global Financial Documentation service line which offers market-leading solutions through a combination of cutting-edge technology and process efficiency. Further, Justin manages Cognia Law’s Banking and Finance service delivery teams based in London, Cape Town and Johannesburg. As a market-leading derivatives and structured finance lawyer, Justin brings significant law firm and inhouse experience to the UK and South African legal/financial markets. After qualifying as a lawyer in South Africa, Justin moved to London where he lived and worked for 10 years in positions at the London Stock Exchange, Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Ashurst and finally at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein before returning to South Africa to join ABSA Bank Limited ("ABSA"). Justin served as a Senior Associate in the Securities and Structured Finance Group at Ashurst, where he was an advisor in several structured finance and CDO transactions for large multinational clients. Thereafter, he joined Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein as a Vice President in the Credit Derivatives and Securitisation Group. As Head of the Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”) Global Markets Legal Group at ABSA (a member of Barclays Africa Group Limited at the time) the team Justin led was responsible for structuring, negotiating and executing complex global markets banking and finance transactions for one of the largest and most profitable global markets franchises on the African Continent.
Edward Gill - Head of UK and Europe
Edward is responsible for managing Cognia’s business relationships and delivery services in the region. He is a proven leader, innovator and strategist, with more than 15 years’ experience in the financial services and legal sectors, having worked with C Level executives at Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies. Edward has a varied and distinguished career, having held numerous roles in well-known firms and established himself as a game-changer in these roles. As the Financial Services Sales Director and EMEA Strategy Lead at Axiom, he managed key relationships with the financial services, technology and telecommunications clients and provided strategic consulting support. At Evalueserve, he managed the integration of services from diagnosis to operational stability with leading clients across the professional services sector. It was in this role that he was short-listed as a Finalist for the British Legal Awards in 2012. As a Senior Consultant and Finance and Capital Markets Programme Manager at Clifford Chance, he managed and delivered multi-million Pound global initiatives. He also received accreditation from the Financial Times in the Legal Innovation Awards 2008. Edward joined Cognia in 2018 and forms part of our UK-based Executive team, driving our growth in the UK and Europe.
Tyson Ballard - Head of Legal Consulting
Tyson manages Cognia Law’s global consulting practice, with a focus on ensuring that technology and processes are in-sync and solutions are tailored to Cognia Law’s clients' needs. As a market leading consultant and Blockchain enthusiast, Tyson brings a passion for developing solutions. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Prince II Project Manager, and is proficient in various project management disciplines such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban and more. As a solution architect, he has proven success with deploying Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement programmes for large organisations that include top Fortune 500 companies and Global Law Firms. He has over 15 years’ experience designing and delivering global transformation projects across multiple industries including banking, energy, manufacturing, insurance, pharmaceutical and telecommunications. Tyson has spent more than a decade in legal services for private practice, in-house corporate and consulting including roles at Clifford Chance, Integreon and Yerra Solutions. Tyson has employed his skills and experience internationally by working in Australia, US, UK and Europe. At Clifford Chance Tyson was responsible for global offshoring research, process re-engineering and developing key client facing processes. Whilst at Integreon, Tyson played a senior consultant role. In his role as the Director of Legal Consulting at Yerra Solutions, Tyson implemented ELM programmes, consisting of contract, matter and spend management to enhance the decision-making processes for global clients.
Dominique Hainebach – Senior Executive and Consultant
Dominique performs an advisory role supporting growth in the UK and Europe with a primary focus on thought leadership. As an experienced consultant, Dominique brings experience as a business consultant and business coach helping clients make successful changes to their businesses, teams and careers. Dominique spent 15 years as a Management Consultant at Accenture, where she was a Partner specialising in designing and implementing large change programmes focusing on financial services clients in multiple jurisdictions. She launched her own business, Renew Partners Ltd, in 2009 to bring about change and improved individual and team performance through coaching and facilitation for her business clients. Dominique has a particular passion, shared with the rest of Cognia Law’s leadership team, and experience working with companies and individuals who are serious about Gender Balancing and creating truly diverse and inclusive business environments. Her work with Accenture, Winmark, UK Parliament among other has provided her the opportunity to make an impact on individuals' careers and on business performance more generally.
